Deaconess Barbara Jean Newman was born in Winchester, VA to Emily and George Caison. She was educated in Fauquier County schools and attended NOVA Community College in Loudoun County where she studied Computer Systems Architecture and Programming. She is a member of the Mt. Morris Baptist Church of Hume, VA where she serves as Deaconess. She resides in Warrenton, VA with her husband of 46 years, Deacon David Newman. They have three children: the Rev. Evan Newman (Joie) and twin daughters, Andrea Newman and Candice Cradle (Marvin). She also has twin grandsons, Marcellus and Demetrius Newman. Deaconess Newman (aka BJ) uses her creative gifts to write and produce Christian plays and direct a dance group of Christian ladies called the “Grannies for Christ.”

Host: AAHA’s Community Outreach Coordinator Christine Taylor Lewis. Christine is a daughter of Fauquier County spending much of her youth in Warrenton’s Haiti community and is a graduate of William C. Taylor High School and the University of Detroit.
