Topic: Family Matters: The Journey to Discovering Our Ancestry
Speaker: Darryl Herder
Robert Darryl Herder, born in Levittown, PA in 1967, is the second child of Isaac and Diane Herder. He attended elementary and middle school in Pennsylvania and later moved to New Jersey where he completed high school and obtained a degree in Computer Science from Rutgers University. Darryl is currently a Sr. Software Architect at an Electronic Article Surveillance Company in New Jersey; has been married to his wife Cheryl for 18 years, and is the father of their 13-year-old daughter, Seren. He has been doing genealogical research since 2017 and started this journey as a favor to his mother who needed help building the family tree. In just 5 short years, he has helped several people connect with lost family members, discover biological parents, and learn more about their family ancestry. His research has fueled his love for connecting with new family members and he continues to discover new branches along his journey.
Host: AAHA’s Community Outreach Coordinator Christine Taylor Lewis. Christine is a daughter of Fauquier County spending much of her youth in Warrenton’s Haiti community and is a graduate of William C. Taylor High School and the University of Detroit.
