Karen White, President and Director of the Afro-American Historical Association of Fauquier County, talks with Lou Emerson, veteran journalist and editor.

Karen White is a descendant of free and enslaved African Americans of Virginia dating to the early 1700s and is known nationally for her research of Fauquier’s African Americans. She is a driving force behind the Association’s “Know Their Names,” a project that seeks to document every person ever enslaved in Fauquier County.
