Topic: AAHA Virtual Veterans and Military Day: Once A Month Vets and Friends
Time: Nov 8, 2022 01:00 PM Eastern Time (US and Canada)
Speakers: Clarence White, Michael Grant, Rev. Ralph Williams
What began as three Vietnam vets getting together for lunch, has become a close-knit fellowship of veterans, high school alumni, preachers, and deacons. In March 2006, Clarence White, a Vietnam vet, visited his former Taylor High classmate, Michael Grant, at the VA Medical Center in Baltimore. The two reminisced and shared what they knew about VA benefits. Soon, they saw the Rev. Ralph Williams, another former classmate, at the VA Center in Front Royal and the rest is history. The “Once A Month Vets and Friends” has grown into 15 or more members who meet every 3rd Tuesday at Applebee’s in Warrenton. They share information, support other veteran groups, send flowers to bereaved families of vets, and donate to a community organization at Christmas.
Host: AAHA’s Community Outreach Coordinator Christine Taylor Lewis. Christine is a daughter of Fauquier County spending much of her youth in Warrenton’s Haiti community and is a graduate of William C. Taylor High School and the University of Detroit.
